Faculty will be recognized for outstanding teaching, scholarship, service at ceremony

Faculty members will be recognized for their teaching, scholarship and service at the 18th annual Faculty Awards Convocation on February 18, 4 p.m., in the DeVos Center, Loosemore Auditorium.

Chris Haven, professor of writing and recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award, will give an address, “Whose Story Is It?” President Philomena V. Mantella and Acting Provost Jennifer Drake will also give remarks.

The campus community is invited to attend the event, which will be followed by a reception.

Recipients of the University Awards for Excellence and awards presented by the Center for Scholarly and Creative Excellence and Pew Faculty Teaching and Learning Center are listed below. The accomplishments of each recipient are detailed online. 

University Awards for Excellence

  • Jeroen Wagendorp, associate professor of geography and sustainable planning: Internationalization Award
  • Valerie Peterson, professor of communications, Outstanding Advising and Student Services Award
  • Anna Hammersmith, associate professor of sociology, and Laura Hawk, associate professor of chemistry: Haas-Stiner Early Career Award for Undergraduate Mentorship
  • Jason Yancey, professor of modern languages and literatures: Outstanding Community Service Award
  • Kevin Lehnert, professor of marketing: Outstanding University Service Award
  • Alan Steinman, professor of AWRI: Distinguished Contribution in a Discipline Award
  • Chris Haven, professor of writing, University Outstanding Teacher Award
  • Corey Anton, professor of communications; Barbara Hooper, associate professor of nursing; and Ellen Schiller, professor of teaching and learning: Glenn A. Niemeyer Award
