1. Tell us about your journey since graduation.
After graduation from KCON (KSON - Kirkhof SCHOOL of Nursing back then) I worked as a staff nurse on a medical surgical unit for 3 years, then hospice for 1 year as I completed my graduate degree. I graduated from Michigan State University in 2001 with my master's degree in nursing and became a family nurse practitioner. I have worked in many areas as an NP, and in 2023 graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis with my Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP). My goal with obtaining my doctorate was to be able to fulfill a career long goal of teaching in a nursing program. I am fortunate to have joined my alma mater, GVSU-KCON, as an Assistant Professor in 2023 and continue to also work 1 day a week as a Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner. In my short time as a T/T professor at GV I have been able to travel as a faculty co-leader to Ghana for a nursing study abroad experience and been able to teach and mentor both undergraduate and graduate nursing students.

2. Share a favorite Grand Valley memory.
Traveling to the Student Nurses Association (SNA) State meeting in Midland, MI with friends and classmates from my nursing cohort.

3. What's the best piece of advice you've ever received?
Keep the main thing the main thing.

4. List three words you would use to describe your Grand Valley experience.
Challenging, fulfilling, and rewarding

5. What difference would you like to make in the world?
Continue to work to advance the profession of nursing through: education of the next generation of nurses and nurse practitioners; engagement in local, national and international collaborations; use nurse practitioner skills to help meet health care needs of communities globally
