Alumna-in-residence Alice Kalinowski '15
Our Alumna-in-residence Alice Kalinowski will be on campus October 31st-Nov. 1st.
Alice Kalinowski (GVSU '15; B.A. History) is the Public Services Manager at the Stanford Graduate School of Business Library. After graduating at Grand Valley, Alice got a Masters in Library and Information Science degree at the University of Pittsburgh. Afterwards, she started work as the Business Librarian at the University of Pittsburgh and then moved to a similar role at the Stanford Graduate School of Business Library. As a Business Librarian, Alice helped students, staff, and faculty find and use business information, ranging from finding historical financial data, identifying market opportunities, and gaining access to historical newspaper data for text and data analysis. In 2020, Alice moved into her current position as a Public Services Manager where she is also responsible for overseeing the library's circulation functions and research support; managing online instructional content; supporting collection development, subscription management, and data acquisition efforts; supervising multiple direct reports; and working with the library leadership team on strategic planning.
Alice is an active member in the Business Reference and Services Section of the American Library Association where she is the co-founder and co-editor of BISdex, which is a website that provides quick insights into leading and emerging business information sources; by and for librarians. She also publishes on a variety of topics related to business librarianship, with a current emphasis on business research data.

Alumni Teacher Panel for for Future GVSU Group Social Studies Students

On March 25, 2024, four of our Social Studies Education alumni came to speak at a panel to students, giving advice and insight on their journey through the GV program and into their careers! They come from the roles of both teaching and administration: Kenyatta Hill-Hall a principal at University Preparatory Academy, Caleigh Haskins a world history teacher at East Kentwood High School, Tim Mckeeby a geography & US history teacher at Fruitport Middle School, and Marlena Gray a economics teacher at Wyoming High School. Students gathered at the beautiful Allendale campus Alumni House and enjoyed tasty food and great conversation. We hope to make this an annual event!
