Employer Edge Spotlight
Bridging Students and Employers Through Engineering Co-Op Partnerships
GVSU’s engineering program stands out for its mandatory three co-op rotations, ensuring students gain real-world experience with the same employer. Ethan Tanis, GVSU Engineering Co-Op Coordinator, plays a key role in connecting students and employers. Helping guide companies through the approval process on Handshake and offering consultations to enhance student-employer partnerships.
Tanis also supports students with resume building, interview prep, and networking, integrating these resources into the engineering professionalism course alongside the Career Center. GVSU’s new flexible scheduling option allows students to complete six consecutive part-time semesters, making co-op partnerships more accessible for employers and students alike.
For companies looking to develop early talent, partnering with GVSU’s Co-Op program offers a direct path to skilled student candidates.
