"World Peace is Inevitable: How Do We Get There?"
World peace is inevitable? Really? In this chaos? Yes. It's true.
Discover how global wisdom and modern decision-making can actually get us to world peace. From breaking down religious barriers to unlocking the power of true collaboration, we can transform the way we make decisions and build a more peaceful world. Drawing from 30 years of faith-based community-building justice work, this talk reveals practical steps we can begin to choose unity over division and create lasting change through collective wisdom.
Syda Segovia Taylor is the founder and executive director of Organic Oneness, a grassroots organization dedicated to eliminating racism and creating healthy communities in Chicago.
With over 25 years of experience connecting Black and Latiné youth and families to racial and environmental justice, healing and wellness, and the oneness of humanity, Syda has emerged as an influential voice in public discourse. Taylor serves as a national partner for the Be the Healing Movement with world-renowned educator and author Dr. Joy DeGruy and shares their community building experiences from racial trauma on the speaking platform of Bahá'íTeachings.org.
As a member of the Bahá'í Faith, Taylor brings a global perspective to her work and considers herself a world citizen. From a six-year journey (2008-2014) of fighting breast cancer, Syda developed a deep connection to earth-based wellness. This led to "Fortress of Wellness" trainings offered through Organic Oneness to help social activists and caregivers prevent burnout while pursuing their collective purpose of advancing racial and environmental justice, healing and wellness, and the oneness of humanity.

One of the great pioneers of the interfaith movement in West Michigan was Rabbi Dr. Phillip Sigal. Aside from his duties at Ahavas Israel Synagogue, Dr. Sigal was instrumental in opening up the lines of communication among several religions in the area. After his untimely death in 1985, a group of local academics and interfaith enthusiasts established a memorial lecture fund in Rabbi Sigal's honor. In keeping with his legacy, the Kaufman Interfaith Institute has brought to churches, schools, and other lecture halls some of the most important voices in religion and social movements of the day.
